Even though it's for stuff you could normally get in the game with time. TPC made the right call punishing hacking, and should have done so in years prior, as it's been happening for a very long time. I think a lot of people on both sides (as much as I hate that phrase) are missing things here. GameFreak/TPC should solve this by letting you gen (or rent, or whatever) Pokemon just for battle in the official software itself, and they could label that in the metadata so that they aren't allowed to be traded to enter the "Pokemon economy" or w/e. Allowing third party software to generate mons forces everyone competing into using third party software to generate mons if they want to try out teams at the same pace as those using third party software to generate mons. It should be understandable why it's banned from the official world championship, without users feeling the need to make up stuff like "iTs AboUt tRaInIng" or "people who gen are bad at Pokemon". The real difference is one person in this example is using intended mechanics of the game since 1996, the other is using third party unofficial software to generate mons far far far easier than someone using the intended mechanics of the game. That was the chance you took deliberately taking hacked Pokes to places like this.Ĭlick to shrink. The people saying "iTs aBoUt tRaInIng" are making a bad opinion and they should feel bad. You may not like the rule and their are many valid reasons not to, but no matter how you argue about convivence or whatever, you knew that rule was there and was always knowingly knew you could get caught one day. However, people deliberately doing it and entering official tournaments? Yeah, I simply don't have much sympathy there. TPC really should have SOME sort of system in place for tournament players to have their teams checked to see if their hacked or not. Like I remember in Wonder trading getting like three Volcanions that were just blatant hacks to the point the person left their Twitch channel name on them, but then you'd get some Pokémon like a shiny or had perfect IVs that had no obvious tells of being hacked but that leads to the issue of why then they'd be wondering trading them so I could never feel comfortable using them. I also 100% get the frustration of also not knowing that the Pokémon you're getting in trades are hacks and them never placing proper systems in place, especially since they've made trading more obnoxious now much of the old use a separate paid app that doesn't even have full functionality on the Switch version. It just wasn't that pleasant to be around.įor me, I 100% get where many of those players are coming from because even with all the improvements, it still does feel like a chore and stuff like this is one of the big reasons why I stopped playing real-world card games (along with their exploitive nature) and went instead too stuff like EDOpro. Click to shrink.Pretty much, I tried to get into competitive Pokémon back during 6th Gen but got out of it because of just how super focused it can be and how toxic the western competitive fanbase can get at people who like to play with their favs or caring about "sprites" (aka the "Their just functions!" FGC crowd in Pokémon form), like playing theme/type teams or anyone who plays differently from them.
